We hope that you enjoyed this CD. It was designed to give you an insight into the Life Sciences in Australia in 2003. Making the CD was an experience for all involved: there were about 100 students from all areas of the Life Sciences in UNSW who contributed. These students undertook various roles ranging from on-site reporters to management staff who worked together as a team. This required all students to adopt a system that closely resembled a real life workplace environment where effective communication and cooperation skills are essential. This was difficult at times as the students were left to their own devices, and this led to problems in coordination that required compromise among the students. Lessons learnt were that early organisation, preparation and extensive planning are vital in ensuring that the whole production process runs smoothly. It is undeniable that every student developed a greater understanding of the importance of inter-personal skills.
